2000

After 1929, no major renovation work was undertaken until 2000, when Reid Hall reclaimed the Grande Chaumière building that had housed Science Po's CERI since the early 1970s. But the year 2016 marks the beginning of a series of the most significant renovations ever to transform the property: Columbia University granted Reid Hall funds to renovate the courtyard, the roof of the Chevreuse building, the exterior façades, interior spaces and classrooms. In 2017, the interior of the Grande Chaumière building was fully refurbished to make way for the Institute for Ideas & Imagination.

In the year 2000, Sciences Po's Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches Internationales moved from their longstanding quarters at 4 rue de Chevreuse to their new building on the rue des Saints Pères. Reid Hall thus had a large building to renovate and then fill with new members at the dawn of this new millennium. 

The travaux were mainly centered on Reid Hall's Grande Chaumière Building, where Sciences Po had been lodged for nearly fifty years.
